Gabe_Bratton Sorry for the delay in me replying.....from your suggestions, I decided that I was probably going to have to wait until this weekend no make those account related changes on what is my personal account (or accounts). I am sorry I didn't reply here to at least let you know of that decision of mine. Now that it’s the weekend (early on Saturday morning, actually), I *started* to make your suggested changes to my Microsoft account, with the plan to take "baby steps" as you suggested, which a) should be less likely to introduce more problems, and b) hopefully help tell us / you & your Outlook Team Gabe, where the problem lies.
Unfortunately (or maybe it doesn't matter?), since I don't receive emails from new posts to this thread despite that option being checked here for myself (as I previously mentioned, & as I think is *also* related to this Microsoft account[s] problem), I made the first such "baby step" change of (only) adding a new email alias, *before* I thought to manually check this thread, and saw your post from yesterday Gabe, where you said "the Outlook Team made a change," etc. So, I immediately *stopped* performing your previously suggested steps, after (only) adding that alias to my Microsoft account. I then closed my Outlook software once (search was still broken), but I closed Outlook again, and then my search started working! 🙂
Did my Outlook search start working because I had added the alias, or because of the change that the Outlook Team most recently made? While it would be nice for me to know, it’s more important that you and your Outlook Team know the answer to that question Gabe, and I am sorry that we may not have a conclusive answer to that question 😞
Now that my Outlook search is working again (thank you Gabe and the Outlook Team), I am inclined to (sooner or later) complete all the steps that you previously suggested Gabe, in *fully* separating my actual, non-365 based Exchange email account address, from my Microsoft account (at least for myself.....I'll decide about any of my clients after I see how involved this full process ends up being for myself). The reason I'm planning on doing that Gabe is, you made it clear that is the best long-term solution. Indeed, Outlook search has now been broken and fixed twice now in the past few months, such that I have to admit that if Outlook search breaks again in 6 months’ time, or a year from two from now etc., I won't be surprised (as much as I hate to say it). Adjusting my Microsoft account configuration now, while what to do is fresh in my mind, should harden my Microsoft account configuration against this problem for the future. Plus, I really do think there will be additional benefits / improvements, with some of those improvements yet to be known, and one of them likely being me receiving email notifications properly from this (and perhaps other) Microsoft forum and/or comments sections threads.
If there is some reason now that I *shouldn't* continue with those full changes to (at least) my Microsoft account, please let me know Gabe. Otherwise, thank you Gabe, (and abdias_ruiz earlier), for advocating inside of Microsoft, on behalf of us here who have been affected by this issue, and working with the Outlook Team to resolve this issue again......it really is very much appreciated!!
