It looks like Microsoft's objective is make Outlook for Windows just like Outlook for Web to make it less expensive for future development and support. It would be analogous to car manufacturers removing air conditioning and power windows from all of their vehicles and continuing to charge the same high price. Cheaper to produce and much more profitable. But HEY!!! customers can just crank down their windows like in the olden days when it gets to warm inside the car! What's next? Remove the heat and the radio?
Outlook for Windows and Excel are the two applications that contribute most to my day-to-day productivity. The "NEW" stripped-out Outlook will probably require working 12 hours a day and all weekend to make up for lost productivity.
NOTHING about this change seems to be about users, NOTHING.
