Using Outlook mobile, if I open a message in a shared folder - e.g. Inbox - to which the owner has granted me Reviewer (i.e. read-only) permission then the status of that message will be set to 'read' after I have read it. If its status was previously 'unread' then the act of me reading the message changes it to 'read'. However, if I use Outlook for Windows client app to read the same message, the message status does not change to 'read'. Outlook for Windows will not permit a Reviewer to change anything about a message (read/unread, flag, category . . . ). The owner is happy for me read their messages but does not want me to interfere with the message status - the read/unread status applies only to the owner, not to me. Why do we have this inconsistency between Outlook for Windows and mobile?
