margieclinton when switching from Outlook to new Outlook I am seeing following blockers
- IMAP Unitybox / Vodafone users
the IMAP folder "Archive" (no archive.PST involved) does not transfer. All folders are empty.
- Contacts and Calendar will not transfer from IMAP. Especially when saved (in this computer only) folders and the transfer - export / import from old outlook to new Outlook is an extreme hassle, only doable for advanced users. Not limited to that contact and calendar often missing after transfer when already used IMAP only (that are non Microsoft or Google email services).
- The dependency on Sync tools like iCloud / Outlook4Gmail for contacts and calendar sync between IMAP and phone cannot be compensated. This is less likely an issue if one assumes that every Outlook or Mail and Calendar user just uses outlook.com / hotmail.de/.com but that is not the case.
- the language of Outlook New will not follow the OS or better User Language Locale and region.
Means Outlook new will be en-us and PST. Not using Windows User locale settings. This is just an annyoance that could be fixed manually, but certainly better UX if this would be either auto-detected on Windows Settings.
- first day of the Week is set to Sunday, unsual for Europe
- if one has more than one Email / IMAP account, changing the default email account will reset all settings. Why? It just changes the display order of accounts
- changing the display order of email accounts is missing (drap and drop in old Outlook)
We should really work on these area. The transition with these issues is really a burden. Unfortunately, it is much harder with vodafonemail / unitybox compared to other IMAP services like IONOS (1&1, web.de, gmx.de). But in Terms of Calendar and Contacts there are similarities.
