eh? what new outlook for windows? The only thing I've seen is that wrapper for owa and that doesn't work. Tried it, couldn't even do the most basic stuff I usually do. A ten minute evaulation was enough to tell me it was going nowhere.
I'm an IT admin and habitually open user and shared mailboxes in multiple clients when performing various tasks - couldn't do a single one of these things with the new client. You can sort of do this stuff, but only by maintaining a ton of windows open. Sorry, it doesn't work. I'd say 90% of the functionality it just missing. Like many others, we still have plenty of clients using stuff which sends mail out via mapi interfaces.
Apart from that, its slow, sooo slow, which is natural, its a web page. I suppose its fine if you are one of those people who get 10 mails a day and just read them and forget. Most people I support are not like that. They get a lot of mail and with the new client there is no way to do mass handling of mail, owa just can't keep up with keystrokes, much like the totally useless gmail client.
Gotta agree with the consensus out there. If the outlook client disappears, it just makes it all the easier to switch away from MS. Outlook was a selling point.
