I have just get a new Microsoft 365 subscription, I was using a volume license before but have had to abandon that as I am not eligible for it now.
For some time I have seen the "New Outlook" toggle but had not tried it until now. Here's a few things I have found after one day which has made this unusable by me.
- Unable to Import .olm file. My old Outlook has 20,000+ messages from years back I want to keep. Both Import and Export are greyed out. Looks like this feature is not (yet?) implemented.
- No client side rule support. I don't use Exchange, I have an IMAP/SMTP (with Cox) and GMail account. I want to be able to filter incoming emails into the right folders.
- No categories. OK strictly not a non-starter, I could live without, but I have archived mails in categories and don't see why I should lose this feature.
Setting up the outgoing SMTP account also took some doing, the default tried to be a little clever and just went to the email server for configuration, which I could then no edit. Had to work around that!
I hope there are no plans to discontinue the 'old' Outlook because that's what I am using. If I lost this and was forced to use the product in it's current state, I would likely just go back the Mac's default Mail.
