It is rather clear to me that Microsoft is targeting individual users with this version rather than enterprise users. Unfortunately MS yet again misses the mark though. There is actually a need for an alternative to Apple Mail or Android Mail that Microsoft could fill. One of the biggest issues, aside from security, is that these different eco systems don't talk to each other. That is intentional but not sustainable. It's intentional because companies like Apple want to force you to only use their devices. Its not sustainable because ultimately ecosystems must be able to talk to each other. So here we go Microsoft: You want to get back into the game with consumers? Do this:
Take Outlook and make it into 5 different apps that are cross platform: Windows, Chrome, Mac OS, Android and IOS. The apps are:
1. Outlook Mail
2. Outlook Calendar
3. Outlook Notes
4. Outlook Reminders
5. Outlook Contacts
Now it will no longer matter whether you have an iMac, and Android phone and a Windows tablet....everything you do syncs cross ecosystem. Add Microsofts security to it and voila you have a product. What you are cooking up here angers your corporate users and will make no impact on the consumer market. next step is to work with Amazon to add Alexa integration with these apps....Google and Apple will follow.
