So, when this "update" rolled out initially and everything broke, it was the last straw for me.
I moved back to Dropbox.
Just wanted to post here to say that:
1. Syncing works correctly (no cloud-only nonsense)
2. Stores correctly on external hard drive (so this is not something to do with the new File Provider framework. It is a deficit on Microsoft's part).
3. Everything is much much faster.
4. LAN sync, LAN sync, how I've missed you. For anyone with more than 1 computer, this is a godsend.
5. Still have OneDrive through work. Still paying out of personal pocket for Dropbox. 10000000% worth it. That's how much OneDrive still continues to suck. Cannot see myself moving back, ever. They'd basically have to replicate Dropbox to a T, and it would have to be "free" (work etc).
Even then, I don't know if I would trust them.
6. I've successfully moved most co-workers over to Dropbox and everyone is really happy.
Moral of story: for anyone looking to jump ship, Dropbox is still awesome.
For Microsoft folks: please replicate Dropbox.
