Hi,
looks like Microsoft brings OneDrive ever more deeply integrated into the world of modern work. For many customers this is a great step and especially the enrichment of the context is getting better and better.
But for the many conventional applications that often still run file servers - or conversely, because of which file servers are often still run - native integration with Windows Explorer would be necessary. UNC paths, in case of doubt even drive letters, the handling of thousands of small files and last but not least the overview like on file servers, which groups (teams) are available at all, without always syncing first.
In the time being there’s a great tool on the market: https://konnekt.io. A native OneDrive compatible client (a kind of companion) supporting UNC connectivity and drive letter mapping based on a native network provider for Microsoft 365. Integrated into Windows Explorer the tool makes the whole Office 365 (Sharepoint Online, Groups, OneDrive) world browsable like folder shares and structures on file servers.
Disclaimer: I am working for the company behind the tool.
Best regards,
Christian
