SlowButEffective I won’t claim that i know how it works, but seeing as they now have to have dataless files and not actual files anymore and a cache somewhere to fill them up on demand, a FOD switch just doesn’t seem possible. Consider what happens when you log out of the app, it has to spend however long a time replacing all the dataless structure with the actual files, took the whole night for me on an external drive. Once you go the dataless road, you’re not getting files that are actual files as long as the service is on, it’ll always be fetching data from the cache and the cache will by definition be impermanent, in particular, since it counts as available space, it’ll be dynamically shrunk/erased as the needs for storage space of other apps and files require, so permanently available things seem out of the picture.
