I’ve been using OneDrive since its early days as SkyDrive, and I truly appreciate how much the platform has improved over the years. It has become an essential tool for file storage, collaboration, and synchronization.
I’d like to share a feature request that I believe would significantly enhance OneDrive’s usability—especially for organizations with large and diverse file sets.
Currently, OneDrive supports selective folder sync, which is very helpful. However, it would be extremely valuable to have a “selective file-type sync” capability. For example, allowing users to sync only specific file types such as documents (e.g., Word, Excel, PDF) while excluding large media files like audio and video.
In many environments—such as law offices or administrative teams—folders often contain a mix of documents alongside large media files accumulated over time. In these cases, users typically only need access to the document files, and syncing large media content can: Consume unnecessary bandwidth, Use excessive local storage, and Slow down the sync process.
A feature that allows filtering by file type (e.g., “Documents only”) would greatly improve efficiency, performance, and overall user experience.
Thank you for your continued innovation and for considering this request.
