How, and are, these 'new' shortcuts any different to the 'add shortcut' function that caused sync of overlapping locations to fail (eg I create shortcut to a SharePoint folder in my OneDrive MyFiles, and then if I need to sync into that SharePoint document library, I cannot).  We have turned Shortcuts off across our entire tenant.  If this is the same thing, we will be required to keep it off.
