Now that Halloween time is coming, I'm going to tell you about a nightmare I've had with OneDrive that has caused Microsoft to block my account not once, not twice, BUT THREE TIMES!!!
What if you had all your files, photos, and videos stored in a OneDrive and Microsoft decides to block your MS account thus losing all access to YOUR files that maybe you don't have downloaded to your computer?
I'm subscribed to Office365 Family which means I can assign 1TB Onedrive storage to a maximum of 6 MS accounts, e.g. for my family: my account, my wife's account and my 2 sons' accounts.
3 years ago, I decided to put all our family photos and videos in my wife's account and then, share those folders with the rest of the family which seems to be reasonable (I guess) in order to have all family memories in just one site.
The point is that the emails OneDrive sends to the people you share the folder with ARE TREATED BY MICROSOFT SECURITY AS AN ATTACK and they blocked my wife's account thus losing access to that content.
The first time it happened (Sep'19) I didn't know that was the reason of the blocking. Microsoft Support wasn't of help, they only answered again and again that "I was violating MS T&C" with no additional explanation at all.
So, I had to create another account for my wife, add it to the O365 Family subscription, configure it in the computers at home and sync again the local content with the cloud,... it took me days to have this completed.
Then, I shared the photos and the videos folder of my wife's onedrive with the rest of the family and... Ups! Microsoft BLOCKS THE MS ACCOUNT AGAIN!!!!
I contacted MS Support, explained the situation, asked for an explanation,... "I was violating MS T&C, we cannot restore access to that account"
I had to create yet another MS account for my wife, did all the process and again.... What the HELL??? ACCOUNT BLOCKED!!!
This time, I realized that the blocking was happening because of the folder sharing action!!! I opened a case with MS Support and the answer was.... guess it?... "I was violating MS T&C"
Trying to explain that the problem was caused by OneDrive and that there was NO violation of MS T&C, I created a new MS account (not tied to any O365 subscription) I opened the OneDrive of this account, created some folders, and right after I shared these folders with me.... BOOOM!!! this account was also blocked!!!!
I sent all the pieces of evidence to MS Support and, guess what?.... "I was violating MS T&C"
So, 3 years later, Microsoft doesn't allow me to access to MY INFO, PHOTOS AND VIDEOS stored "WhoKnowsWhere" in 3 1TB OneDrive storages even to just download the content.
So, Ankita Kirti , should I be happy for the anniversary?
PS.: Just for you to know, if you want to share several folders of your onedrive with someone else, do it one at a time and leave some time (1 to 5 minutes) before sharing another folder or you'll have your account blocked by Microsoft Security.... and you will never be able to access your content anymore...
