Neither of the proposed alternatives offer a straightforward solution. End users cannot be expected to build complex Power Automate flows, and it is concerning that Microsoft’s so‑called ‘solutions’ amount to little more than links to partial workarounds.
Furthermore:
- There is no way for a reader to set up an alert on lists or libraries. This is a major oversight, as a large amount of SharePoint content is read‑only, and readers currently have no simple option to create a rule.
- There is no option to configure daily or weekly alerts.
- There is no option to create an alert based on a specific view.
In short, a wide range of simple, highly valuable functionalities are disappearing.
Microsoft, you really cannot downgrade such an essential system in this way.
