What stops laptop manufacturers from just deleting the port? 

Personally I feel that the bare minimum USB C ports should be at least 2-3, because that's about how many USB A ports were/are on laptops, not even considering that we're doing literally everything with them now, if we replaced all the previous ports with USB C then that would equal like 7, but that seems a bit much as well.
