Editor's note 4.22.2025 - This blog has been updated to reflect that the timing of the introduction of mobile device management for visionOS and tvOS is to be determined. As additional details become available, we'll provide them here.

Editor’s note 4.8.2025 – We have now extended app protection policies (APP) support to Microsoft Edge (v136 or later), OneDrive (v16.8.4 or later), and Outlook (v4.2513.0 or later). IT admins will need to configure the app configuration policy setting com.microsoft.intune.mam.visionOSAllowiPadCompatApps="Enabled" to enable APP for these apps on visionOS devices. To learn more, refer to Configuration policies for Intune app SDK managed apps.

Microsoft Intune continues to invest in seamless, dependable experiences across the entire device lifecycle with each major release and every new device.

In today's digital landscape, companies face the challenge of managing a growing number of devices across diverse platforms. Each operating system and device type—be it Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, or Linux—comes with unique requirements, which can lead to fragmented management processes, inefficiencies, and security gaps. Organizations need a streamlined solution that supports multiple platforms while ensuring consistent policies, enhanced security, and efficient IT management.

Continuous enhancements to Intune enable organizations to rapidly respond to new OS updates and securely implement the latest features. Our support for bring-your-own-devices (BYOD) and company-owned devices, including specialty devices, shows that Intune is ready to adapt to the needs of any business across ecosystems.

Now, we’re introducing support for app protection policies (APP) on Apple Vision Pro, Apple’s AR/VR device, starting with Microsoft Teams on visionOS. Beginning in November 2024, customers can apply the same robust APP protections currently available for Android and iOS mobile devices to Vision Pro. This ensures organizational data is safeguarded on Vision Pro, empowering users to embrace the potential of AR/VR while maintaining compliance and security.

Looking ahead to early 2025, we’ll extend APP support to additional Microsoft 365 apps, creating a unified, secure ecosystem for employees across devices. For added flexibility, our Intune SDK will also be available for third-party applications, enabling organizations to integrate protection and control of company data—whether for office workers, remote employees, or frontline teams.

To further expand these capabilities, Microsoft plans to introduce mobile device management (MDM) for visionOS and tvOS in the future. This will mark an important step in ensuring that devices that run these systems can be seamlessly managed within Intune. By extending this approach to Apple’s specialty devices, Intune helps ensure your workers—wherever they are—have the tools they need to stay productive and secure, all from a single, unified platform.

These developments will enable organizations to respond rapidly to new OS updates and implement the latest features securely. As organizations adopt diverse device ecosystems and platforms, the need for a unified management platform becomes even more critical. With Intune, IT administrators can apply consistent security policies across all endpoints, maintain compliance, and improve response times for emerging security issues. As device and operating system ecosystems evolve, Microsoft Intune is ready to meet the increasing demands with advanced solutions.

  • Dear InTune support team,

after 2yrs of VisionPro ownership, the most crucial productivity limitation is not having InTune/Comp Portal or Device Management option available for VisionOS. As we approach 2026, please resolve this, even if it’s a workaround like certifying/allowing ipadOS version of InTune to be downloaded through VisionOS store. Without this, Outlook, Teams, and O365 apps are useless for enterprise. Happy to hear from you at my registered email address. Thank you for all your efforts in keeping device-access seamless.

      Hi NeedInTuneCompPortalForVisionOS

Thanks for sharing your experience and the impact this is having on productivity. We understand how important seamless access to Microsoft 365 apps is in an enterprise environment, especially as teams explore new device types like Apple Vision Pro. We are actively working to expand support across Apple platforms which includes support for visionOS, though we don’t have any timelines to share at this moment in time. We would recommend keeping an eye on the public Microsoft 365 roadmap for updates as new capabilities are announced. We really appreciate you taking the time to raise this and engage with us as we continue to work toward broader enterprise support.

      Thanks!

      Intune Support Team

Any updates on tvOS support coming to Intune? I was excited to hear at Ignite 2024 they were planning this for "next year" but 2025 is coming to a close. Any chance of this dropping in the next 2 weeks? 😉

Hello, i am just seeking an update. I have a client that requires this feature and it would be great to know how to access it. It does not appear in the app protection policies creation page.
