Hi Scallywag, thank you for your comment and for sharing your feedback on the new Adobe PDF experience! I’m sorry to hear you’re running into these issues. As this experience continues rolling out and reaches full availability in June 2026, Microsoft Edge will no longer support switching to an alternative built‑in PDF viewer. The new viewer, powered by Adobe’s PDF engine, will be the standard going forward. While Adobe provides the underlying engine, the PDF viewer itself is owned and managed by Microsoft, and any updates or changes are determined solely by Microsoft.
I'm sorry to hear the inconveniences the advertising notifications are causing. Although this viewer is provided at no cost, organizations can disable the “Edit with Acrobat” button that appears in the top‑right corner of the viewer by using the ShowAcrobatSubscriptionButton policy. You can find more details in our Microsoft Edge policy documentation here: Microsoft Edge Browser Policy Documentation ShowAcrobatSubscriptionButton | Microsoft Learn
