Find is still very, very broken and very slow in the new PDF viewer:
- Use Chrome and find a word in 22 page PDF: 1.15 seconds
- Use Edge with old viewer and same find: 1.93 seconds
- Use Edge with new PDF viewer and same find: 7 seconds (!)
Also, with new PDF viewer, Find a word while view (zoom) is showing full width, then skip down a few pages and hit the change zoom to full page, and see scroll bar find marks go away (try cycling a few times) and see Find sometimes go to 0/0 when it was e.g. 7/166 before, click Next and see very slow progress. Sometimes view change causes the page with the current Find # to not show, and then hitting next causes on change at all (of page or highlight), until a few clicks later, then it switches pages after a few seconds (!) delay.
None of this seems surprising to me: Acrobat Reader has historically been slow and overweight, and now that 64-bit Reader and Acrobat are incompatible, I have to use Acrobat as the PDF viewer outside of Chrome/Edge, and it is even slower. Perhaps accuracy isn't as good as the real thing, but for 99% of the users 99% of the time, it was good enough and much faster.
