Release: SQL Server Migration Assistant (SSMA) v7.11

Overview

SQL Server Migration Assistant (SSMA) for Oracle, MySQL, SAP ASE (formerly SAP Sybase ASE), DB2, and Access allows users to convert a database schema to a Microsoft SQL Server schema, upload the schema, and then migrate data to the target SQL Server (see below for supported versions).

 

What is new?

Each iteration of the SSMA tool has been enhanced with targeted fixes that improve quality and conversion metrics. In addition, this release offers support for migrations to SQL Server 2019.

Note : With SSMA v7.4 and later versions, .Net 4.5.2 is an installation prerequisite.

Supported source and target versions

Source : For supported sources, please review the information on the Download Center for each of the above SSMA v7.7 downloads.

Target : SQL Server 2012, SQL Server 2014, SQL Server 2016, SQL Server 2017, SQL Server 2019, Azure SQL Database, and Azure SQL Data Warehouse*.

*Azure SQL Data Warehouse is supported as a target only when using SSMA for Oracle.

    ToddH10, only the latest version of SSMA (8.7) is currently available, none of the previous versions.

    Where can I download version 7.11?  I am currently trying 8.4 to migrate from Oracle 9i (9.2).  But, I am getting ORA-03134: Connections to this server version are no longer supported.  So, I am assuming I need an older version of SSMA.

    @jim Now I understand better. There was a similar issue during the SCOM's blog migration. Several dozen of old posts appeared daily in my news feed. Thanks for the explanation!

    Hi  Luc - We just migrated a majority of previous posts from the MSDN Blog, where we have hosted such announcements to date. As part of the migration, all post dates were updated to the date of migration. You will notice at the top of this item that we call out:

    The 8.1 announcement originally came out on March 5, 2019, several months after the release of 7.11, but the post dates after migration make it appear that they came out consecutively.  Hope this helps!
