I like the approaches you mention in this article.  Building on the idea presented in Option 3, we did some "basic coding" and added Graph API authentication to our web analytics software: https://analytics.angelfishstats.com.

 

This shows us Pages, Usernames, Documents, and other useful site analytics data.
