brighterstar It's hard to adapt to any platform change, and when it's your favorite app - it's even worse! I also love OneNote for Windows 10 with it's simple, clean interface and left-hand navigation.
The 'new' OneNote app is not really new at all though. It began its journey in 2002 (released in 2003) and has been seriously refreshed over the last 3 years. There are lots of cool things in there that will help you to let go of the OneNote that you love. But first, try this in the new / old OneNote:
- Right click on the Ribbon toolbar in the app and select 'Use simplified ribbon.' This will give you a toolbar that looks more like what you had in OneNote for Windows 10.
- Select View on the Ribbon, then Tabs Layout. Choose 'Vertical Tabs.' Again, this will give you a navigation layout that looks much more like OneNote for Windows 10.
Once you've done that, start to explore some of the new pen features (if you have a device with a pen, like Surface) - like draw an arrow and hold your pen still for a moment. It converts to a straight line with an arrow head.
Also, write something with your pen, and then search for what you wrote in the search box at the top right of the page area. This version of OneNote instantly recognizes text in pictures and handwriting - and makes them searchable with no delay.
And if you use Outlook, try the meeting details feature on the home ribbon.
There is a learning curve and some pain to be experienced with changing from one app to another. I'm sure that the OneNote team are sorry to put anyone through that. But I hope this helps you to get started on the journey through that change.
