Airpad? I suppose you mean iPad. I'm sorry i am not very up to date with Apple world, since i am still a very much Windows guy.
I don't want to get into the PC or real computer debate, that's better left for the marketing and advertisement teams at Microsoft and apple to think about.
As a consumer, I am only concerned with what I need to do and what devices can fulfill those requirements in that budget. And Surface pro 8 doesn't do that, neither does the Surface Go 2 devices. The comparison is not about tablet device VS a computer device. The comparison is about price.
For the price of a fully kitted decent Surface Pro device, i can get a regular traditional Windows Laptop with some dedicated graphics AND a 10 inch ipad with pencil. This combination allows me to take care of my note taking needs, as well as run all the demanding photo and video editing windows programs.
Now consider me buying a Surface Pro device. It costs the same as above 2 devices together, but still has no dedicated graphics, and no sufficient storage and RAM either. Theoretically, its a windows device alright, it can run what you call "fully fledged PC" softwares and programs, but being realist we know how much 8gb of RAM can do.
On one hand, i get 2 devices, and both together help me do everything, although a little less portable than a Surface device. And on the other hand, i get a beautiful 2 in 1 device, which can theoretically do everything being a "real PC" but we know the 8gb RAM story.
So thats my reasoning. I love Surface devices too, but not at the price they are available. All the advantages that a Surface offers gets diluted by the high price tag, at which point it becomes a luxury item, ironically thats something usually associated with Apple, not WIndows,
