There is a OneNote add-on app called Onetastic that provides hundreds of macros along with a way to customize or create new macros. These macros do a lot of the things that we all want in OneNote such as sorts, search-replace, editing and many others. The app was created and managed by a Microsoft OneNote developer who provides excellent support. I have been using it for over 4 years. I would be lost without it. It has a free trial which is upgradable.
This add-on can be tried out and upgraded to give users the ability to edit existing macros or to create new macros. It comes with a development language and tutorial on how to use it. This is the download link https://getonetastic.com/download/OnetasticInstaller.x64
Check it out.
Not making any accusations here, but simply sharing a question/food for thought: I think it's fantastic and thank goodness that a OneNote developer created Onetastic to extend OneNote features. I've gladly purchased a license at least once or twice over the years for different versions of OneNote.
My question is whether a conflict of interest could be possible where OneNote developers may never add certain features that could reduce the need to purchase OneTastic. I don't mean the more obscure, custom macros, but functionality that would be appreciated by all OneNote users if available. For example, I've requested collapse/expand all subpages toggle for many years. Yet Onetastic remains the only way I know of to add that feature.
Moreover, as I understand the licensing, I'll have to purchase Onetastic again and again for every different platform and every major new version of OneNote, even if this is the only feature I'm interested in. As a Microsoft 365 subscriber, this seems like a bit much. I really hope some of the Onetastic functionality, such as collapse all subpages will be added to OneNote in 2022. I'd be 100% for giving the developer a raise to help compensate. ;-]
