Internet access to use it... Why is this still a "feature" of whiteboard? Its ridiculous that a user cannot use a "drawing" program without the internet! Besides using the tool for numerous work tasks and sharing, I also frequently use it for note taking and as a general educational aid for my children. I shouldn't have to connect to my phone's hotspot or another wifi network just to draw out a math equation on a drawing program. Even worse, where a board is already in use, it essentially disables the tool right in the middle of using it if the internet connection goes away momentarily. Imagine if any other office application just disabled itself based on internet connectivity, say right when one was in the middle of a presentation to a client.
Microsoft... please read these comments from invested users... stop making this program WORSE! Get rid of need for internet access requirement. Get a new product manager. Get someone in charge of this program that's actually taking user feedback and designing around the actually in-use use cases and personas we, the active users, represent. Whatever object model or SDK or other base upon which you are making this "new and improved" version is failing. Get it together before you lose all of us once and for all.
