I would say, this update is very good but still, unpleasant. The new UI is very good, simple and clean. All the new features like 'Templates', pen arrows and 'Reaction' are very great. But, there're still many things that really messed up.
- Cannot open Whiteboard if there's no Internet connection. This is really bad because usually, I need to access the notes I kept in the Whiteboard quickly, and some/most of the time, without having any Wi-Fi/Internet connection.
- There's no ruler anymore. To make a straight line, press Shift while drawing it/Hold the pen for a while after drawing the line/shapes. I seriously cannot agree with this. I believe that most users especially Surface Pro users are using the Whiteboard without keyboard. We need ruler to make lines from which angle we wanted to, and it makes us harder for us to press Shift if we're using the Whiteboard without keyboard/have to hold the pen for a while until it straighten the lines.
- Missing features to import PDF, .pptx. I believe that this feature is still on the way to be added soon so I have no problem with it (if it'll really be added soon).
- Erasing Mode. I noticed that now when we erases something, it will delete the whole line/stroke. We can't erase the only part we want to erase anymore. Maybe Microsoft should give the Eraser two erasing options?
Instead, some other features should be added such as :
- Group/Ungroup objects. (Or I think this features is available in the older versions but not anymore).
- Customizable canvas size. e.g. A4, A5, No size.
- Writing-to-text mode.
- Multiple page modes. e.g. Continuous Page/Single Page/Big Canvas
Lastly, I think Microsoft has made a great effort for this free app actually and thank you for that. Just make it to be the best app for us, so that it will not be just the same like Jamboard etc.
