The combo of Stream and ClipChamp has not been good for our organization. This is our current experience:
- Limitation - can't open MP4 files unless they are in OneDrive.
- Limitation - can no longer perform minor edits in Stream - must use ClipChamp...an additional app
- Limitation - Since we now have to edit in ClipChamp, we are limited to where we can save/export the edited MP4. We need these to go on our LMS and Knowledgebase, so TikTok, YouTube, and LinkedIn are not valid. We don't use Google for security reasons, and OneDrive and Dropbox are not our preferred shared drives.
- Limitation - can't get the transcript file from ClipChamp (where one is to edit now) but have to go back to Stream to get auto-generated file. This file is in .SRT and not .VTT, which is what we need.
We used to be able to 1) upload an MP4 file into Stream. 2) Perform minor edits to trim the video. 3) Auto-generate a transcript that we could then edit and export as SRT and convert that to vtt. 4) export the edited MP4 file. All in Stream. None of this is possible any longer, which is really unfortunate because it was a great solution to editing videos and generating the needed closed captioning files for our learning needs, since everyone in the org has Stream. Now we are searching for another solution.
