I am a teacher and the school's Instructional Technology Specialist, we all (and I struggled to get the whole school on board) use OneNote 2016 in our classes now. We download the class notebook add in and use it too. I have every teacher making an agenda in Content Library, and then sharing the Content Library with their parents via a link from Office 365 (that's too cumbersome). They use the Content Library to host everything they ever hand out to kids, and worksheets, files, videos, remediation materials, and enrichment materials. I have worked myself to the bone making handouts and videos and training thousands of students and teachers. Now this change. I have tested the app, and it's faster than the desktop version by far, but I see some issues that TEACHERS will need for it to be beneficial to them.
Here's what I see is missing in the app that teachers need:
- the ability to insert a "file printout" in the app itself. it's too cumbersome to have to open every single file and print it to OneNote. We want the old feature that the 2016 version had.
- the ability to distribute a page to a specific amount of people within the class notebook. I can only distribute to everyone in the class.
- a dedicated print button. I know printing is going the way of the dodo or the American car, but this feature is of utmost importance to my struggling students that need a printout because they don't have a computer at home or can't take the school one home.
- the vertical and horizontal view are just terrible for my teachers and especially my special education students to deal with. Too confusing.
I would LOVE to meet with or talk to anyone involved in the designing so they could get a teacher's perspective. In fact, I'd love to test anything out too. This program is THE BEST thing that has happened to education since the internet or PowerPoint was invented. Let's get it right on this version.
Thanks!
