msmith617, I identify with your pain around doing a fresh install of Office 365, only to see the app, or UWP, version of OneNote when you finished. Fortunately, using resources I've been collecting here I had a means (locations) to download and install the 2016 EXE version on my own new system. It fits like a well worn glove as I work on It. Frankly, I'm saving those install bits like treasure as I'm convinced that my 2016 EXE edition, as it lives today, will be with me as it is forever. I'm OK with that because it - and all the predecessors that evolved into it - meets all my needs today. I've resigned myself to the fact that this will be all I will ever get, and I'm now OK with that. Let's face it. This thread is closing in on a year of life. There has not been a single word from Microsoft here since the former PM, William Devereaux, moved on months ago. Even in the face of impassioned, articulate, and detailed posts like Neil Goldstein just posted, it's a good bet that none from the Product Group will ever see it. It's also pretty clear what their direction is. We all need to be in damage control mode and formulate your own personal strategy as I've done and accept reality and how you will meet your own needs going forward.
