This is a disaster. I just bought a Surface Pro and now I find that I can no longer install the Desktop version of OneNote. The UWP version is mickey mouse software for iPad users and small children - there is just so much critical functionality lacking. I can't even do proper tag creation and searching which means that I have to keep Evernote just for clipping articles. Even simple things like renaming notebooks or changing where they get created requires kludgy workarounds, such as moving or creating notebooks in OneDrive before accessing them in the app. It's like they looked at the Ribbon and said "let's remove 90% of the useful functionality so as not to confuse users". Ugh. I've become dependent on this software as an educator but unless I can find some way of downloading the real version I almost feel like returning the SP and buying some old PC on craigslist that comes with a standalone version.
