It's bizarre, to say the least, to take away a solution that already works from the user without any plausible justification and simply suggest that they subscribe to a more expensive plan that won't even provide the same solution that worked before. It's disrespectful to Visio subscribers to lose the autonomy to generate their diagrams from an Excel spreadsheet. I don't understand the "profit-boosting strategy" Microsoft adopted with this, but for me, the effect is the complete opposite. Since I was used to starting my work in Excel and then editing the diagram in Visio, and I won't be able to do that anymore, instead of subscribing to a more expensive plan and having to change my workflow anyway, the best thing to do will be to cancel my current Visio subscription and look for another alternative. Microsoft urgently needs to learn to respect the user's wishes.
