Ever since the pandemic hit, I've been relying on Whiteboard to teach. The previous desktop version of Whiteboard was so useful that I kept it when we came back to in-person instruction. And then the new update hit...
Right away, I can see 3 changes that hamper my workflow:
- One can no longer fix PowerPoint slides to the background. I used to rely on this feature to navigate around the presentation and to zoom in/zoom out without worrying about shifting the slides or the writing on the slides.
- PowerPoint slides are now arranged 3 in a row, with no spaces between them. They used to be arranged 2 in a row, with spaces between, rather like slides in a PDF that has 6 slides per page. The previous arrangement made it easy for me to add extensive notes on the sides of the slides. With the new arrangement, I'll have to get creative with the slide in the middle.
- Whiteboards can no longer be exported in high-resolution svg format. Whiteboards still can be exported in png format, but that does not work for larger whiteboards (20-40 slides).
I understand that you cannot do everything for everyone. Would it be possible to give users an option of reverting to the previous version, without going through 3rd party websites like filehorse?
Alternatively, would it be possible keep a desktop version and a web version? This way, people who need a lightweight version of the app can use the web version, while people who have sufficient computational power on their devices can use the full-featured desktop version. Thank you!
