Damien Calvert ... you can export now using security and compliance tools...
This is what we do:
You must either do this process in IE/Edge or use Chrome with the Meta4 ClickOnce Handler Extension installed as the export tool is a click-once based component. - Under Admin Centers, go to Security and Compliance.
- Click into search & Investigations Menu and click into eDiscovery.
- In eDiscovery on the Office365 Admin Portal, click Create a Case
- Give it a Logical Name eg: Joe Employee and more detailed Description.
- Click Open next to the newly created case
- Click to the Holds Tab. Click the Plus to Create a new Hold
- Select the Departing persons mailbox.
- Leave the Query Section blank to place a hold on all content.
- Click into the Search tab to create a new Search again leaving the query blank to include all items in the mailbox.
- Once the search has been created, highlight the search and click the export button. Give the export a name.
- The export may take some time to generate based on the length of employment, number of messages, etc.
- Click to the export tab to watch the export status, once it becomes "100% completed" under the section "Export Results to a computer" click on Download exported results…
(if you don't see the export tab, visit here: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Assign-eDiscovery-permissions-in-the-Office-365-Security-Compliance-Center-5b9a067b-9d2e-4aa5-bb33-99d8c0d0b5d7) - Click the copy key to clipboard link to copy the export key for the download
- Once the click-once app launches, paste the export link into its export key field.(It won't work in Chrome. Use IE or Edge.)
(If the click-once won't launch, visit here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2919825/you-can-t-start-the-ediscovery-pst-export-tool-from-the-exchange-admin) - Select the destination folder on your local workstation or another location where there is sufficient available space.
- Let the download complete.
You now have an pst file containing all their teams/outlook communications and an excel sheet indexing same as well. |
