Matt_Anderson tvanhollebeke That video provides little information at all on how it is integrating with To Do or Planner. There is only one line mentioning that it will integrate, and they show a task list but it doesn't explain if the backend are Planner tasks or not.
- Will the integration be essentially a wrapper for Planner tasks were we can then surface the planner tasks outside the main planner app or tasks in teams?
- I'm assuming and hoping this is the case as it shows assign to field in the task list! Then it will be functional as it keeps the task backend centralized to within Planner and subsequently Teams Tasks
- Or will it be completely separate to planner task?
- In this case will we be able to see the Loop tasks in Teams Tasks?
- Will Microsoft Project tasks be integrated (i.e. show similar task lists of MS Project tasks)?
- Project tasks are said to become integrated with Planner and To Do and will allow people without project licenses access to assigned tasks, will this also be included in Loop Components?
Also from that video Loop Pages and workspaces are essentially a new version of OneNote that allows Loop components to be included. Why weren't loop components just added to OneNote rather than creating a whole other app that now requires more developers rather than developing the app that everyone currently has and uses? If its the backend of OneNote that isn't compatible with Loop Components then ok, but please provide feature parity with OneNote and then kill off OneNote completely.
I doubt there will be feature parity between the two (Loop App and OneNote), hence this will then cause information sprawl with people using Loop Workspaces, Teams, OneNote, etc.
- What are the functional differences between OneNote and the Loop App other than having Loop Components being able to be shown via the fluid framework?
- You may say Loop workspaces are used for projects, but why cant OneNote be used the exact same way?
- Loop Workspaces, is the same as OneNote Sections
- Loop Pages, is the same as OneNote Pages (bar access to Loop Components which it sounds like will soon be integrated anyway)
- Files within a Loop Workspace, is the same as attaching files as URL or directly to a OneNote Page within a OneNote Section
- Only difference is they cant be shown in the OneNote page nav bar (where pages are shown) for a section (or project)
- Collaboration on the same page can be done on OneNote just like as shown in the video for Loop Pages.
