Marc Roussel, what you mentioned is the expectation of all the users, but sadly Microsoft failed to meet the users' expectation this time.
If I'm not mistaken, the reason behind this is that, the desktop version and the new version are built with different underlying code, the new version is web based app where they started out from the Whiteboard for Team and it is lack in features all these while, well behind the desktop version.
I believe they rushed to push the web version to desktop users is because they want to integrate both version into a single web version where it can be used by users on different platforms and it can be linked with 365 service, and eventually, they just need to manage a single version of the app, but in terms of functionalities, the web version is way far behind compared to the original desktop version at the time the made the "upgrade".
Can you imagine the when you wake up tomorrow, your car company tell you that they upgrade your car into a new model. When you are excited to test your new car, you feel fresh with the exterior of the new car, but when you get into the car, you find that the new car has no aircon, no seatbelt, and even no power window, power steering.
I'm not trying to deny the efforts of the developer team, but this is the feeling when I got the update, I have done more than 10 various feedback regarding lack of functionality of the new version to the team and roll back to the version before the update, because the new version is just unusable for my scenario.
