We are expanding our tenant management capabilities in Microsoft 365 Lighthouse to help managed service providers (MSPs) secure and manage more of their small and medium-sized business (SMB) customers. We’ve heard from our Lighthouse partners about the importance of being able to manage all their customers in Lighthouse and we are working to extend our coverage.
Lighthouse now offers a limited set of management experiences across SMB customers with no customer licensing requirement. While the full value of Lighthouse is realized through products such as Microsoft 365 Business Premium, which includes productivity, management, identity, and security, these improvements increase Lighthouse coverage across more Microsoft 365 customers.
Expanded management scenarios across your customer base
Now, partners can take advantage of several management and security scenarios across all their customers, including those who do not meet the requirements for full Lighthouse management. It’s now easier than ever to manage across customer tenants with powerful tools, including:
- Granular Delegated Admin Privileges (GDAP) setup and management - Through an experience designed specifically for MSPs, Lighthouse simplifies the process of setting up granular delegated access. It empowers MSPs to set up GDAP end-to-end.
Lighthouse offers GDAP templates to help MSPs save time and reapply GDAP settings as new customers are onboarded. It makes it easy to adopt additional security measures like just-in-time access. GDAP templates reduce the administrative effort of manually assigning permissions to one customer at a time.

We’ve brought the user details panel from Microsoft Admin Center to Lighthouse to make it easier for MSPs to manage Microsoft 365 users across their customers. (Requires delegated access permissions to the customer tenant.)
- Tenant tagging – You can also use tenant tags across all customers to help organize customer tenants. Tenant tags make filtering existing views and insights available to relevant customer groups easy.
- Service health - Service health information is also available among all Lighthouse customer tenants. Lighthouse partners can view service health incidents and advisories across all customer tenants to quickly identify impacted tenants, saving time troubleshooting and reducing support calls.
