Graham_H It is vital to be able to edit comments from others, but this has always been possible even in modern comments (of course you have to go through a time-consuming prompt about how you will lose all the essential formatting of said comment if they were made from someone in a non-modern comment version). Editors are often working as a freelancers or as a publisher you are sending stuff to freelancers; you send something out to be worked on by someone outside of your organization, then it comes back and those comments need to be adjusted before a clean version is processed and then goes to a client . Clicking 'yes edit' is very time consuming whether it's your own comment or someone else's (however much a 'menu' appears on hover etc.).
