I registered for the sole purpose of complaining about this. The new feature is TERRIBLE. It is burdensome and unwelcome and is causing disruptions in my work.
(1) The comments take up too much space on my screen when they get bumped out to the edge of the screen and then automatically reduce the font size so I can't read it.
(2) Sometimes I forget to press control+enter to post a comment, so when I need to insert another comment, it bumps me back to the original unfinished comment, which is stupid and I lose my place.
(3) I use a lot of tags in my comments so that I can easily find them. I can still search for this text (at first I think I couldn't?? but maybe they at least fixed that), but I can't do a search & replace. I need this functionality.
(4) I have no use for interactive, simultaneous discussions while I'm working on a document. I work on it entirely alone and then I send it to the client when I'm done.
(5) The comment pane moves separately from the rest of the document. Which means the comments don't move with me as I scroll through the pages, so I can't see them as I'm editing. I have to take the extra step of clicking on the little comment box icon (if I happen to notice it) near the text where I'm editing to see what the comment is. SIGH. Why?
(6) As a professional editor, this update really slows me down. It takes extra time and effort to make a single comment and to revise the comment (which I frequently do). I sometimes have hundreds of comments in a given document. So this is problematic for me every single day all day long, resulting in lost productivity. Make it go away.
