"Modern Comments" is the most archaic improvement yet. What wannabe genius came up with this terrible idea? Clearly, there was no "Voice of Customer" surveying done here, because no regular user of Word would ask for this. "Modern Comments" slows you down and adds absolutely no value whatsoever. Every time I try to comment on a document, I inevitably forget to press the stupid "post" arrow (because it is so unintuitive), and then waste a bunch of time trying to figure out why my attempts to add a new comment aren't working (since the last comment wasn't "posted"). I am a writer and I HATE this feature so much, I am seriously considering dumping Word for Scrivener, even though Scrivener is more complicated to use.
Please, please, PLEASE smarten up and get rid of "Modern Comments", Microsoft!!!
