Discover the Latest Features and Improvements in OneNote for the Web

We are happy to share a series of enhancements made over the past few months in OneNote for the web, designed to elevate your note-taking experience and boost your productivity. Let's delve into the key improvements and how they can benefit you.

Copy-Paste Enhancements: Simplifying Your Workflow

Copying and pasting content is a fundamental method of capturing information and notes. We've introduced several enhancements to make this process even more convenient and efficient.

Triple-Click Select

The triple-click select feature allows you to highlight sentences or entire paragraphs with just three clicks. This is particularly useful when working with large bodies of text, making it quicker to copy, cut, or format your content.

Introduction of the Paste Floatie

The new paste floatie feature is here to change the way you handle copy-paste actions. This floating toolbar appears when you paste content, giving you quick and easy access to paste options.

Keep Source Formatting during Paste

Preserving the original formatting of your copied content is crucial for maintaining the integrity of your work. The updated features now include an option to keep source formatting, ensuring that your pasted content looks exactly as you intended. This is easily accessible via the paste floatie and ribbon.

Improved Table Operations

Whether you're managing data, structuring ideas, or collaborating on projects, these upgrades will transform how you work with tables.

Effortless Table Expansion & Selection

Adding columns and rows has never been easier—simply click the new "+" button and expand your table instantly, making edits smooth and frustration-free.

No more struggling to select or move entire tables! With the new table selection handle, effortlessly grab and reposition tables with precision. Simply use the small handle at the top left corner of the table for adjustments.

Consistent Formatting, Every Time

Say goodbye to the hassle of reformatting! Newly added rows and columns now automatically inherit existing formatting, ensuring a cohesive look without extra effort.

No more struggling with all content squeezed into a single column when merging tables! OneNote now intelligently preserves the original layout, keeping rows and columns perfectly aligned for a smooth, organized merge.

Sorting for Better Control

Stay organized with enhanced sorting tools, featuring new Sort Ascending and Sort Descending options. Quickly arrange numbers, text, or dates to keep your tables structured, clear, and easy to navigate.

Proofing Enhancements

Page-level Proofing

We’ve enhanced our proofing capabilities by introducing the option to apply a proofing language to an entire page (not just selected text), making it easier than ever to maintain consistent, error-free content throughout your notes. Whether you're drafting reports, or brainstorming ideas, OneNote helps you stay polished and professional with minimal effort.

Add to Dictionary

That’s not all. We know how important it is to keep your notes accurate and tailored to your unique style. That’s why OneNote now lets you add words to your personal dictionary, ensuring your custom terminology is always recognized. No more frustrating red underlines—your unique words are here to stay!

Expanded Image Format Support Added

You can now seamlessly insert images in WebP and JFIF file formats into OneNote for the web. You can simply copy, paste, drag and drop, or insert them. OneNote already supports JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF, BMP, TIF, and TIFF image formats, and we plan to add support for SVG and HEIC in the future. Easily incorporate your favorite images into your canvas as part of your daily workflow!

The only thing i am missing in web version and also mobile - alphabetical sorting of pages. It boggles my mind this essential feature is not available in these versions.

Totally agree, the ability to order pages by date or alpha would make the app more usable and allow me to move away from the desktop version to Teams or web endpoint usage.
