  • mikezapp - we are glad this information helps. Regarding your questions:

Question 1 Is there a way to prevent a new "extra" service plan added from being enabled by default?

You may follow this guide: Disable access to Microsoft 365 services while assigning user licenses - Microsoft 365 Enterprise | Microsoft Learn

Per VasilMichev suggestion, we are working to add the identifiers.

Question 2 - will this post of all extra features and links to their description be maintained or is there a Microsoft source somewhere else to use as an ongoing resource that will be maintained as the extra service plans increase?

We plan to update this page or the ms learn article: Understand the Microsoft 365 E3 Extra Features license | Microsoft Learn

Why the introduction to this "extra feature license"? Originally in M365 admin centre it was written that there were problems enabling features like Clipchamp and BCE for Microsoft 365 E3 Original subscription. Is this just a work around to bypass this?

What is the Microsoft criteria to place some of these new services in this extra license? Could it be that these are still in development/preview?

    Thank you

    Chiara

Did the rebranding of Office E3/E5 to Microsoft 365 E3/E5 also affect the prior rebranding Office E3/E5 Licenses? If you had an Office 365 E3 license, was it automatically upgraded to Microsoft 365 E3 license?

Our Microsoft account team sent me here as this is the M365 Extra's documentation I have been looking for, thank you.

Concern - we have an internal enterprise process requiring review of all licenses and features enabled for our users BEFORE they can be deployed.

Question - is there a way to prevent a new "extra" service plan added from being enabled by default?  Possibly an alert so we can manage the when for enabling a new service plan?

Note - you listed 5 service plans on 10/27, and today there are now 11...the concern.

Question 2 - will this post of all extra features and links to their description be maintained or is there a Microsoft source somewhere else to use as an ongoing resource that will be maintained as the extra service plans increase?

  • VasilMichev  the license is called

Microsoft 365 E3 Extra Features and the services included are:
    • Bing Chat Enterprise,
    • Microsoft Clipchamp
    • Microsoft Loop
    • Avatars for Teams
    • Windows Autopatch

Are you looking for something different?

  • Frederik_Lacroix EDU customers that bought Microsoft 365 A3/A5 Original suites, should also see a M365 Extra Features license. If you don't see it, that means your organization bought the unified license, in which case you don't need to take an action.

Note, that the service plans included in the EDU license are different. Microsoft 365 A3 Extra Features for Faculty includes: Microsoft Defender for Endpoint P1, Intune P1 for Education, Remote Help, and Bing Chat Enterprise.

  • Can you please share the proper identifiers for the SKU and services included therein? The documentation currently lacks details on that.

  • Is this license also coming for EDU tenants?
I have checked our License page, but can't see them there yet.
