All of it is quite promising but, as with many of the recent Microsoft 365 releases, it seems pretty much all the focus is going into the webapps, which I find quite unfortunate.
I understand that it might be easier to update the web platform, but this keeps fragmenting the user experience.
It used to be:
- If you want the full Office experience you pay a premium price and get full fledged Desktop apps including all the functionality.
- If you are fine with the core functions but require compatibility, you use the web.
Nowadays, the webapps are still very far from offering what many users need on the Desktop, and yet they are the ones getting all the new features for a modern experience. As a result, there is no way to get "the full Office experience", or should I say "the full Microsoft 365 experience", unless one keeps jumping from the Desktop to the web depending on what they want to do.
I would have hoped that webview2 would have help speeding up integration of such features, but apparently it ain't happening yet.
