I understand building "applications" on top of SharePoint (e.g. SharePoint Server, SharePoint Enterprise, etc. on top of SharePoint Team Services/Foundation) but I don't understand creating something called "Microsoft Lists." We have SharePoint Lists. We have Excel lists. Task lists. Now we're going to add to the confusion with another "list" thingy. How about "templated SharePoint lists?" Or fix the mobile experience for SharePoint lists. If it's based on SharePoint we'll still have the same SPO limitations (i.e. # list items) but now they'll look different and we'll have YAA (Yet Another App). Will their behavior be significantly different? Will they be faster? How about creating "SQL lists" or something with amazing performance and storage? Call me skeptical, but how many "task" lists and "apps" do we have today?
