Hi, Microsoft 365 Insiders! I’m Dimple, a Product Manager on the Microsoft Loop team. I’m thrilled to announce the availability of Trello integration with Microsoft Loop for all our users.

Trello Integration with Microsoft Loop

Trello integration has been one of the most requested features for Microsoft Loop. We have brought your beloved Trello boards into Microsoft Loop's collaboration goodness!

You can now keep your tasks organized, your team aligned, and your data in sync, all in one convenient workspace. With Trello and Microsoft Loop working together, your data stays in sync, across both platforms automatically, making teamwork a breeze.

How it works

  1. To add a Trello board to a Microsoft Loop page, go to https://loop.cloud.microsoft/ and either open an existing page or create one.
  2. Type / and then under Other apps in the drop down list, select Trello.

Add Trello board to a Microsoft Loop page

  3. On the Use Trello in Loop page, select the Proceed button, and then sign in to your Trello account with your credentials, if not already signed in.

Sign in to your Trello account with your credentials

  4. After you've successfully signed in, select the Allow button to grant Trello read/write access to Microsoft Loop.

Select the Allow button to grant access

  5. Select the board you want to import and select the Import button.

Select a Trello board to import

NOTE: You can import a board with up to 200 cards.

What can be done in the Trello board?

Board interactions

In an imported Trello board in Microsoft Loop, you can:

  • Drag and drop cards across swim lanes.
  • Add or change members.
  • Add or change due date.
  • Open the cards in Detail view.

Context menu

Using the context menu in the top right of the Trello board, you can:

  • Sign in to your Trello account (if not already logged in).
  • Open the Trello board at Trello.com. This will open a new web page.
  • Disconnect your Trello account from the Microsoft Loop page using the Logout command.

But wait, there is more…

  • All users with access to the Microsoft Loop page will be able to view the imported Trello board.
  • Changes made in Microsoft Loop or on Trello.com will sync in near real-time.
  • Unauthenticated users and users with no access to the imported board will only have read access and no write access. They can log in or obtain permission for the board to get edit access.

Tips and tricks

You can also turn your Trello board into a Microsoft Loop component to use in other Microsoft Loop supported apps such as Teams and Outlook.

To do so:

  1. Convert your imported board into a component using the six-dot menu on the left side of the board.
  2. After the component is created, you can copy a link to the component (from top right) and paste it in Teams or Outlook.

NOTE: The Trello board in other apps will remain in read-only mode. Changes to the board can only be made from the Microsoft Loop app.

Known issues

  • You can only import a board with a minimum of 1 card and a maximum of 200 cards.
  • If you encounter difficulties proceeding with the integration, one of the following reasons may be responsible:
    • Optional connected experience is not enabled: To resolve this, try enabling the Optional Connected Experience (OCE) from the privacy settings (accessible through the three-dot menu) in Microsoft Loop, or reach out to your IT admin.
    • Atlassian admin console is blocking 3P integrations: To resolve this, it is recommended you contact the Atlassian's admin and request approval for the integration. They can make the necessary changes in the admin portal to enable the integration for you.

Requirements

  • This third-party integration is currently unavailable to personal accounts (users who have Microsoft 365 Personal or Family subscriptions)
  • To proceed with the integration, you will need to log in using an official work or school account.

Availability

This feature is available to all Microsoft Loop users who meet the requirements outlined above.
