Hi, Insiders! I’m Rob Nunez, a Product Marketing Manager on the Microsoft 365 team. We know Microsoft SharePoint is an essential content management and collaboration tool, and we’re committed to helping you unlock its full potential.

We’ve recently launched the SharePoint Showcase blog series dedicated to monthly deep dives, tips, resources, and the latest features for SharePoint.

Whether you’re an expert or just getting started with SharePoint, we’ve got you covered. This month was all about SharePoint agents – let’s take a glance at how they work and some of the improvements we’ve made to enhance the experience.

Benefits of SharePoint agents

This year, customers have built over 3 million agents with SharePoint and Copilot Studio – a testament to your creativity and innovation. You have leveraged agents for a variety of use cases, including:

  • Answering sales questions quickly and accurately
  • Onboarding new hires
  • Pulling lessons from past projects and initiatives
  • Drafting talking points for public speaking occasions
  • Segmenting data and gathering crucial insights

Beyond helping you work smarter, faster, and more effectively, SharePoint agents can reshape and improve how you make decisions, work as a team, and conduct business overall.

What’s new in agents

We’re thrilled to share recent enhancements to SharePoint agents, such as:

  • Improvements in grounding and reasoning for more accurate and context-aware responses
  • The ability to track agent usage by department to better manage costs and ROI
  • New capabilities for using agents directly in Teams and Copilot.

Stay tuned for more updates next month!

How it works

To set up a new agent in SharePoint:

  1. Select one or multiple files and folders in SharePoint, and then select Create an agent.
  2. Customize your agent with the agent builder, give it a name, image, and description to make it easily recognizable, and add more SharePoint sources as needed.
  3. Share your agent across your organization by copying and sending a link by email, or @mention the agent in Teams.

Availability

Anyone with a Microsoft 365 Copilot license or SharePoint license (learn more about consumption-based pricing for SharePoint agents) can set up an agent.
