This month’s SharePoint Showcase blog – part of a series dedicated to monthly deep dives, tips, resources, and the latest features for SharePoint – explores updates and new capabilities for you, admins, to maintain content hygiene and readiness for AI-driven innovation.
Copilot and agents governance and security essentials for admins
As companies leverage Microsoft 365 Copilot to turn documents, contracts, and other content into impact, and to support admins in the evolving AI landscape, we’ve introduced a range of new tools and policies for SharePoint admins:
- Restricted Access Control (RAC) policy for all sites using Entra security groups and Microsoft 365 groups: You can mitigate oversharing concerns by limiting access to specific users via the new RAC policy, which now applies to all SharePoint sites, including those connected to M365 groups and Teams.
- Restricted Content Discovery (RCD) for SharePoint sites: The RCD policy helps prevent accidental content discovery within Copilot and search, and even custom Agents, supporting secure Copilot deployment.
- AI-driven site matching for SharePoint sites and OneDrive accounts: Managing uniform security settings for certain departments, locations, or content types across thousands of sites can be difficult. With this feature, you can use reference sites to automatically compare up to 10,000 target sites, allowing the AI to find semantically similar content and flag any policy differences.
- Agent insights and governance: Agent insights help you track sites with newly created SharePoint agents and the number of agents in a site.
- Enterprise Application Insights (third-party): This feature helps you strengthen application security for your Microsoft 365 tenancy by listing the number of third-party applications accessing your SharePoint and OneDrive, each application’s permission scope, and request count.
- Copilot for SharePoint admins: Launched in May 2025, Copilot for the SharePoint admin center allows you to use natural language to complete tasks and search for information efficiently.
- SharePoint cross-tenant site content migration: SharePoint now supports migrating OneDrive, Mailboxes, and SharePoint sites between tenants. Sites can be moved quickly and securely, and sharing links stay active via cross-tenant redirects that point old URLs to their new locations.
- Stronger resiliency with Microsoft 365 Backup: This feature delivers secure, high-speed data protection and recovery to ensure business continuity, all within the trusted Microsoft 365 network.
