Hi, students! We can’t believe it either: School is just around the corner. Ready to make this year your best one yet? Microsoft Copilot can assist with preparing for upcoming classes, gathering supplies, and (for the new or returning college students) acquiring new adulting skills like budgeting, meal prep, laundry, and filing taxes! 😉

Refresh your memory on key concepts

Finished your summer reading early and already forgot what the book was about? Entering another semester of calculus and need a refresher on what asymptotes are? Ask Copilot to summarize school topics for you, generate quizzes for easy, at-home practice, and provide other suggestions for prepping for more learning.

Sample prompt

I read “Hamlet” at the beginning of the summer and forgot what it’s about. Give me a brief summary of the plot and highlight major literary themes, then create a 10-question quiz asking me about the text to test my knowledge of characters, plot, themes, and literary devices.

Shop for supplies

Furnish (or update) your dorm room or locker with recommendations from Copilot for the best items, where to find them, how to get the best deals, and more.

Sample prompt

I love KPop, dance, and dogs. Suggest some cool locker decorations that are under $30 each.

Up your life skills with recipes and more

Living on your own for the first time means taking on a lot of new tasks, like cooking for yourself or navigating public transit. Let Microsoft Copilot be your adulting guide!

Sample prompt

I’m going into my freshman year of college at Loyola Maryland. Suggest some easy, healthy recipes I can make for dinner with a microwave or without needing to cook. Then, show me the closest grocery stores to campus housing.

Get your finances in order

As you get older, you inevitably take on more responsibility with money – especially if you just worked your first summer job and lack a proper way to save, or are studying abroad this semester and need to cover expenses like food and travel. Microsoft Copilot can help with navigating this confusing but crucial task!

Sample prompt

I made $5,000 this summer as a camp counselor. My parents are covering my tuition, housing, meal plan, and books, but I’d like to eat out occasionally and travel for a week over spring break, plus I have to pay $50 every month on subscriptions. Help me create a budget for the year that allocates this money smartly and leaves me with some savings. Then, recommend apps for organizing my to-dos.

Welcome back, you’ve got this!
