Hi, Microsoft 365 Insiders! I’m Petr Klabal, a Product Manager on the Teams team. We are thrilled to let you know that you can now personalize the placement of notifications on your screen.

Customize the location of notifications in Teams

With the ability to customize the position of notifications in Teams, you gain:

  • Greater focus: By positioning notifications in less intrusive areas of the screen, you minimize distractions and better concentrate on tasks.
  • Improved productivity: With notifications appearing where they are most visible and least disruptive, you can stay informed without breaking your workflows, thereby boosting overall efficiency.
  • Intuitive and flexible interface: You can adjust notification locations to best fit your current workspace, ensuring a seamless, comfortable, and adaptable working environment.

How it works

  1. To use this new setting, go to Settings > Notifications and activity > Display.
  2. Select the option for notification location that best suits your needs and preferences: Bottom right, Top right, Bottom left, or Top left.

Availability

To use this new feature, you must be a member of the Teams Public Preview or Microsoft 365 Targeted release and use the new Teams client on Windows. Other meeting participants aren’t required to be members of the Teams Public Preview.

To enable your Teams client for the Public Preview, IT administrators must enable Show preview features in their update policy. You can learn more here

For Targeted release, global admins can go to the Microsoft 365 admin center and give access to a select set of individuals or the entire organization. Learn more here

This feature will be rolling out to web for public preview or Microsoft 365 Target release users in April 2025.

Feedback

We want to hear from you! Select Settings and more> Feedback in the top right corner of the Teams app, and then select either Report a problem, Give a compliment, or Suggest a feature to share your thoughts.

Petr KlabalThis is what I mean. There is an enormous blank space between the taskbar and the notification. Only Teams does this. This bug has been present for so many versions of Teams that I can't even remember when I first saw it. Also, in Teams Classic we had the option to use Windows native notifications instead of Teams native notifications. Now, with the new Teams 2.0 this is gone. Why?

That's all nice and dandy. But when will Microsoft fix the bug that the toast appears not in the correct location.  It's been bugging me for ages.

Petr Klabalsame for me however as I had chosen top left mine has a similar gap from the top of screen instead. I guess we would expect it to not have a gap from the bottom or top depending on the location you select for them to appear.

        Thanks

I understand the ease of programming the popup to appear in any 1 of the 4 corners, but what about allowing dead center in your face as a fifth option?

DavidR can you give me more details why would you need to have notification toast in the middle of your screen? Is it just to not miss it in case you are expecting urgent/important message or anything else? Thanks

yes, just to not miss it; and even better, the ability to temporarily set that feature for a particular member(s) of the team so the 'hot' chat is not missed; using several screens can make it tough to catch a 5 second pop up 'toast', thanks

That sounds like a great option. That will come in handy once it's available 🙂 (I'm on preview, but don't see this option yet. Might be because of my location in Europe. Hope it'll be here soon 😁)

CarmenMyo we are rolling out gradually so not everyone on Preview has it. But you should see that option in settings next week.

For those of us not on Preview, when do you think it's likely for this feature to come out to stable? Excited for this!
