Celebrate International Day of Women and Girls in Science with help from Copilot

Thanks, Stephanie, for addressing both ends of the leaky STEM Pipeline!! I'm excited to be presenting with Peter Wu at the Microsoft Ability Summit on the impact of math accessibility updates in M365 on equitable access to STEM. As a former engineer pushed out of my career after breast cancer, I moved into STEM education and have taught at the PreK through college level. I now design engineering classes with a focus on 'who gets to be' in STEM. I was that 6th grade girl who wasn't sure I belonged due to gender, and became the young test and validation engineer who clearly didn't belong due to an unexpected disability. After hiding that disability and ongoing cancer battle for 25 years, I now openly share it to empower the next generation of engineers.

I love that Peter responded to my LinkedIn post last year asking for help making M365 accessible for me, my students, and all of the working professionals who don't quite feel we belong...yet...in the STEM pipeline. Our workshops always include the research and stats on who gets to be in STEM, but also the stories - the wins, the losses, and what we've chosen to do with those to empower the next generation of STEMinists.
