Agents are fundamentally shifting how businesses operate, allowing companies to scale quicker and generate value exponentially faster.

According to the 2025 Work Trend Index, this will be a pivotal year for companies to rethink their core strategies and operations, with human-AI teams powering a new kind of hybrid work. 82% of leaders are confident they'll use digital labor to expand workforce capacity in the next 12-18 months.

Last year, we announced agents in Microsoft 365. These out-of-the-box agents are embedded directly into Copilot Chat or the productivity and collaboration apps you use every day, enabling quicker time to value. They add specialized skills and knowledge to Microsoft 365 Copilot, taking on unique roles to work alongside you and your team. This collaboration makes your work easier, keeps everyone aligned, and helps you make smarter decisions faster, driving the next level of business value for your organization.

Today, we’re excited to announce several new agentic experiences - let's dive in.

Access agents in the new Agent Store

Copilot is the UI for AI, and it all starts with Copilot Chat. You can easily create agents or quickly get started using out-of-the-box agents in Copilot Chat. To make it easier to find, pin, and use agents we’re introducing the Agent Store. This new, immersive and personalized experience, coming next month, will showcase agents available from Microsoft, your organization, and partners, so you can find the right agent tailored for your needs.

Reasoning agents now available via Frontier

Turning unstructured and expansive data into high-value content requires deep, strategic thinking that typical AI models struggle to provide. Researcher helps you tackle complex, multi-step research at work—delivering insights with greater quality and accuracy than previously possible. It combines OpenAI’s deep research model with Microsoft 365 Copilot’s advanced orchestration and deep search capabilities. You can use Researcher to build a detailed go-to-market strategy based on the context of all your work data and broader competitive data from the web; identify whitespace opportunities for a new product based on emerging trends and internal data; or create a comprehensive quarterly report for a client review detailing work to date along with the latest market analysis.

Analyzing complex data without advanced data science skills can be time-consuming and challenging. Analyst thinks like a skilled data scientist, so you can go from raw data to insights in minutes. Built on OpenAI’s o3-mini reasoning model and optimized to do advanced data analysis at work, Analyst uses chain-of-thought reasoning to progress through problems iteratively, taking as many steps as necessary to refine its reasoning and provide a high-quality answer that mirrors human analytical thinking. It can run Python to tackle your most complex data queries—and you can view the code it’s running in real time and check its work.

Beginning to rollout in phases in May, Researcher and Analyst will be available to customers with a Microsoft 365 Copilot license as part of the new Frontier program that gives customers early access to new Copilot innovations while they’re still in development.

Assess organizational expertise with the new Skills agent

When you’re looking to connect with a colleague with a particular skillset or needing to better understand the skillset of your workforce, it can be time consuming and challenging to quickly get to the insights. Powered by the new People Skills data layer, the new Skills agent provides a comprehensive view of organizational expertise. It enables employees to easily find experts in the organization, understand colleague’s skillsets, edit their own skill profiles, and make informed decisions about skill development. Leaders can use the Skills agent to inform strategic workforce planning decisions with an up-to-date view of talent landscape strengths, gaps, and opportunities. This agent is integral to bridging skill gaps and uncovering talent opportunities across the organization.

The Skills agent will be generally available in June 2025.

SharePoint agents available in Copilot Chat

Consuming the vast amount of organizational information available in SharePoint to get answers and meaningful insights can be overwhelming and time-consuming. SharePoint agents allow you to use and create scoped agents grounded in your SharePoint data, instantly getting real-time information and insights from the site or specific content. You can easily share these agents with others via email or Teams, @ mentioning the agent in a chat like you would a teammate. Soon, you’ll be able to chat with SharePoint agents directly in Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat. This feature will be available in May.

Interpreter agent available in public preview

Communicating in a universal way where everyone instantly comprehends what’s being said is challenging – often requiring costly interpretation services for global meetings. The Interpreter agent, now available in public preview, breaks down language barriers for a more inclusive Teams meeting experience. Interpreter enables real-time speech-to-speech interpretation so you can speak and listen to the meeting in the language of your choice.

Interpreter currently supports nine languages including Chinese (Mandarin), English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (Brazil), and Spanish. Customers are required to have a Microsoft 365 Copilot license to access the public preview.

Manage meetings more effectively with the Facilitator agent

Meetings are the backbone of collaboration – yet managing meetings is cumbersome and costly. The Facilitator agent works alongside you and your team to help you manage your meetings effortlessly. Throughout the meeting, Facilitator follows along taking real-time notes that everyone can easily co-author. Now, Facilitator will moderate the discussion using the agenda in the invite or by identifying the goal set at the beginning of the meeting. At the halfway point and before wrapping up, Facilitator recaps key decisions and open questions, ensuring that important details and follow-up tasks are not overlooked. You can also @ mention Facilitator in the meeting chat to get summarized insights from the conversation or search the web for information, such as checking statistics or looking for recent articles on a specific topic.

These new Facilitator capabilities will be available in public preview in early May 2025. Customers are required to have a Microsoft 365 Copilot license to access the public preview.

Keep projects on track with the Project Manager agent

Managing projects can be challenging - there's always a never-ending list of tasks to track and complete and hiring project managers to stay on top of it all can be costly. The Project Manager agent in Planner automates project and task management for all your team needs. Project Manager can automatically create a new plan from scratch or use a pre-configured template based on goals and relevant files you input. It can also complete tasks, including content creation. Now, Project Manager can generate a status report for any project in a matter of minutes. Reports will include a project summary, the reporting period, potential blockers, and more to keep team members informed. Collaborate with your team to refine the report and share it across surfaces including SharePoint newsletters to reach a broader audience.

Project Manager is available in public preview. Status reports will start rolling out to customers in public preview this month. Customers are required to have a Microsoft 365 Copilot license to access the public preview.
