Hi Kevin. You sent me the same as a private question and I answered it there. Pasting a version of what I shared with you directly. This resolution was sent to me on 6/10.
Basically, the Data Stewardship feature was the cost increase. It was supposed to be in Preview only in June for no additional charge. Instead, the charges started incurring on 6/1. There was no way for customers to turn this off.
We'll see what happens on July 1st...
A brief summary of the case:
Issue: Customer see spike in cost of Azure purview charges
Resolution: Noticed spike in cost is due Azure Purview Data Map - Data Map Enrichment - Data Insights Generation, engaged technical team and they confirmed its global outage, due to which customer not able to turn off service, Microsoft turned off the service and working on refund for the same, which customer should receive shortly.
